Who Knew

One minute hugging, the next spent in tears,
It is like you faded into thin air.
This battle left you scarred with many fears,
You looked lonely when you lost all your hair.

Who knew that such a small cell could rule you?
Your life changed when you acquired cancer.
As childhood friends we explored the zoo,
And you always craved to be a dancer.

Cancer can never ever shatter hope,
Even though deep down you think that it may,
Friends and family are here to help you cope.
Who knew that you would be gone the next day?

Now in heaven you are in better care,
The loss of you is more than I can bear.
