When A Killer Visits.

23rd Jul 2011 22:59 I never thought the family would come back, not after what they did. But then I saw them driving up the street. And what was worse, they were pulling up in front of the rental house next door!
I tried to calm myself down, but the panic kept rising inside of me, like bile. The whole family was sick, not just one of them, it was them all. I was scared of every single one of the Herring???s, not that they???d ever know. After the incident everyone knew who to blame, their oddities made them outcasts in society. It was pitiful how they had no friends, but it was their own choice. My mind raced with a million things that could have brought them back into town, but nothing seemed to be realistic. Mr. Herring was still in jail, but how could the rest of the family be coming back to a place where no one wanted them? If they were moving in next door, I???d have to come to terms with the fact that I was living next to a murderer???s house. No matter what I did it???d always seem like someone was watching me from that eerie gray two story house, with the blue shutters, and the black door. I grabbed my cellphone, quickly dialing my best friend Cali. On the third ring, she picked up but before she could even say hello, I hurriedly rushed to explain what was going on. ???Cali, we???re in trouble. The Herrings???, they???re back, everyone but Mr. Herring.??? Cali???s lack of response was frightening, I didn???t know what to say. I needed to get out of this house, and out of this town as soon as possible. Who knew what could happen in the short time I was alone? The Herring boys weren???t exactly the nicest, they tortured animals and were the type of boys who crept upon you in the middle of the night, before scaring the living daylights out of you.
Cali???s phone suddenly disconnected. I stared at my own cellphone in horror. What was going on? I told myself to calm down, maybe her phone died, or maybe she had to go; but Cali always charged her phone, and she would???ve told me if she had to leave. With the thoughts racing through my head, I realized something wasn???t right. Grabbing my rain boots and coat, I quickly put them on before stalking to the car. This wasn???t normal, nothing right now was. My mind felt scrambled and I couldn???t think straight anymore, all I knew was that I had to get to Cali???s and quickly. Racing down the back road to Cali???s house I turned on the radio, just in time to hear that a prisoner from Montgomery County Jail had escaped. They weren???t releasing names, but they said he was extremely dangerous and if seen, to contact the police immediately. I slammed on my brakes as I arrived at Cali???s, and quickly got out of the car. Running up the steps, I realized that the door was wide open.
I ran inside, calling Cali???s name in every room that I passed, until I started up the staircase. At the top were blood spatters, and I started to scream. I slowly opened Cali???s door and screamed again as I saw Mr. Herring slumped over, dead, in an orange prison suit. Cali was gripping onto a knife so tightly, her knuckles were white. ???I???I did what I had to?????? Was all she could say.
