Story. The Healing Orb

Fredrika was the only fairy that had two different fairies for parents so she wasn???t exactly just an earth fairy; she was a wearther fairy a combination of an earth and water fairy. Fredrika was a very unusual earth fairy. First of all she was a mix of blue and green but the most unusual thing about her was she had scaly wings that glittered in the summer sun. She was a small seventeen year old who always wore her green heals and her torn green dress (by the way she likes green) with her straggly red shoulder length hair that flew in all directions.
She was relaxing on a warm rock that stuck out of the ground at a slant. A soldier flew up to her and landed elegantly on the soft, moist soil and the flowing green grass then he told her the bad news. Her father (the king) was gravely ill but the healing orb had been stolen so Fredrika had to get it from whomever or whatever had stolen it. Since she was the princess it was her duty to get the orb. She flew off in search of it because of course her little sister couldn???t do it because she was only 10 and her mother couldn???t do it because she was looking after Fred???s father.
Soon enough her wings got tired, she always got annoyed with her wings because she could always fly faster than the rest of the fairies so her wings got tired faster. She slowed down to rest her wings for a minute. Suddenly something blue shot past her in a misty blur it circled her round and round. She followed it until she got dizzy and fell down in frustration and dizziness. Then it stopped, she was surprised when it did. Then she saw him, the guy of her dreams.
He was tall enough that he was taller than Fredrika. He had blonde hair and blue eyes, his shirt draped over his muscular body and his shorts were ripped at the bottom which made him look even cuter.
???Are you the princess???? he asked
???The one and only.??? I said out of breath ???And you are??????
???I am prince Brentwood the 5th.??? He said softly ???and you must be Rika, good to meet you your highness,??? He bowed.
Well nice to meet you but as you probably already noticed I???m in a hurry so if you could get out of my way that would be great.???
I started flying again but he blocked my path. ???What are you looking for???? He said ???I would be happy to help.???
I giggled like a love-struck teenager. ???Sure you can help me find it.??? I was still giggling like a moron when he started talking again.
???Find???what???? He prompted me
???Oh sorry. I need to find the healing orb, my father is sick and someone stole the healing orb so it???s my duty to find the orb.???
???Then let???s go find it. Or do you want your father to die???? He said rhetorically. But I didn???t catch on so I kept talking.
???Y-Yes I-I mean no. ???I stuttered ???I mean yes we should go and no I don???t want my father to die!??? I said exasperated.
???Ok then let???s go!???
The whole way to the edge of the forest I kept smacking into trees because I was staring into prince Brentwood???s beautiful blue eyes, Once again he helped me up onto my feet and I brushed the debris off my skirt.
???Hey, I never got to ask you but what???s your first name????I asked him. He looked at me strangely. ???Not that I don???t like your last name it???s just a bit of a mouthful??????
When he answered me he was still looking at me strangely ???My first name is Edward??? He still looked perplexed.
???Well???we???ve got a long journey ahead of us so yea???let???s go!???
The forest seemed to look more unfriendly the closer we got to it. It looked impossible to get through this, and I was never going to see my father again because I couldn???t get the healing orb to make him better! I must have started sobbing because; before I knew it Edwards???s muscular arms were around me. He started to comfort me. ???It???s alright, everything is going to be ok, and everything is going to work out your father won???t die.???
I stifled my sobs for a moment and between my sobs said ???Nothing is???going to???work out??? I managed ???my father???is going???to die because???we won???t be able???to get it there???in time.??? I started full out sobbing again just thinking about it. Edward picked me up and started cradling me in him arms and kept comforting me until I stopped crying (which wasn???t very long because his mere presence was comforting enough). He flew up without effort but I was still worried about him I mean I do weigh ?? a pound (which in our world is actually quite heavy).
???Shouldn???t your knees, or I should say wings, be buckling by now???? I asked, too perplexed to be sad anymore.
He replied as if it had been an everyday question. ???I have amazing strength as you have your speed.???
???But why? Why are we different????
???We are wearthers. All wearthers have one special power plus four more that you get at the coming of age.???
???So let me get this straight; I have the power to go really fast, you have the power of strength and the four more powers are????
???Having the ability to control all five elements.???
I gasped. I had always felt as if I was connected to the elements, but I had always thought that it was a figment of my imagination. But I guess it was my powers getting ready to explode. I giggled
???So I guess I???m not crazy after all!??? I could have danced I was so happy. But then it dawned on me. Edward had said ???the coming of age???.
???What exactly is the coming of age???? I asked ???I mean I don???t exactly want to be thirty-six when my powers kick in.???
???The coming of age is seventeen.??? He told me ???At least for me and my friends at least.??? He trailed off
Once again I gasped. ???But I???m seventeen! Well I guess my powers will be kicking in soon.??? I sighed. Wasn???t this enough for one day? So on top of everything else I had to worry about my powers kicking in? But Edward had said something I hadn???t taken into account until now. ???Wait! There are more of us????
???Not very many, maybe fifteen or twenty more but that???s it.???
I pondered that for a moment. Ever since I was a baby I had always thought I was the only one. But I guess not. My wings started beating furiously (as they always did when I was excited). Only then did I realize that I was still in Edwards???s arms. I jumped out and started apologizing ???I???m sorry. Did I hurt you????
He laughed and started grinning and pointed to his huge biceps. ???Super strength, remember???? By then I had started laughing too.
???Oh yea!??? I clunked myself on the side of the head ???I forgot.???
We laughed for a while; then Edward reminded me of what we were supposed to be doing. ???We should be going if we want to reach the forest by sundown.??? He said.
???But I don???t like the forest it???s creepy.??? I whined
???Don???t worry I will keep you safe.???
I giggled ???Why don???t you protect me now then????
???Yes why not.??? Suddenly we were in such a passionate embrace that not even a bullet could separate. But my stupid wings started beating on their own again. Edward pushed me away and I pouted. ???Don???t worry. We can continue this on the ground.???
???Fine we???ll go on the ground.??? I was still pouting ???but we have to find a bed of moss or no deal???
He laughed at my expression ???Of course our highness.??? He bowed mockingly ???you may have anything you wish.???
I couldn???t stand not giggling. We flew down at a break neck pace and landed on top of each other in a knot, and luckily enough on a bed of moss.
I looked like a bear had mauled me overnight (well almost). My hair was sticking up in all directions, my makeup was smeared, my lips were bruised and every inch of my body was stiff. I looked around for Edward but he was nowhere to be seen. Then I saw the note. It said (in his, own personal script).
I meant to be back by now but if you are reading this then don???t worry I just went to find a stream to wash up in. I will be back soon my little Rika.

I sighed. He had called me ???his little Rika???. I sighed again. I didn???t think he liked me before let alone love me. Ever since he crashed into me that day I was madly in love with him. I mean who wouldn???t with his muscular arms and his chiseled features, his planed chest and his blonde hair. But my favorite part of him is his eyes, pools of shining blue water shimmering in the sun. By the time I had stopped day dreaming Edward was standing in front of me.
???Oh, hi.??? I giggled ???How long have you been standing there????
???Not too long.??? He crossed his arms and raised his eyebrows.
???What???? I was suddenly confused. ???Why are you looking at me like that????
His expression softened. ???Because it looked like you were in a different world. It worried me to see you that way.???
I pouted. ???I was only thinking of you.??? He laughed ???What???s so funny????
He laughed again. ???You!???
???ME???? I was suddenly furious. ???WHY ARE YOU LAUGHING AT ME????
He stopped laughing as soon as I had said that. ???Well first off your hair and second your face.??? He started laughing again.
???WHATS WRONG WITH MY FACE?!??? I screamed back. Then I realized that I was a mess. I started laughing too. ???Oh. Now I see.??? I said between giggles ???My makeup and hair.???
???Let???s get you cleaned up before we go out into the forest so all the little creatures won???t laugh at you too.???
As soon as we got to the little stream I jumped in. The water was cool and refreshing. When I came out Edward looked me up and down.
???What now???? I said exasperated.
???It???s you again but in a good way this time.???
???What is it????
???You look better without all that goop on your face. Without it you look almost like an angel...??? He trailed off.
I looked into the crystal clear water at my feet. But I didn???t think I looked any different than I looked every day. But I guess that was just because I only wore makeup to see how it felt on my face. I had already vowed to never wear makeup again because it made my skin breakout and itch.
???Are you the nicest guy on the planet or something???? I walked a little bit closer to him and put my hands on my hips. ???Because you are the only one whoever says nice things about me. Everyone at school thinks I???m the weirdest thing on the planet.???
???They must not be able to see very well because I think you are the most beautiful thing that ever walked the earth. If anyone could see clearly they would think that too.???
I shook my head which made my shoulder length hair fly out in all directions, flinging water around me and Edward. ???Then you must be able to see me pretty clearly then.??? A smile broke out on my face. ???You know; you???re the only guy to like me since grade two.??? I smiled a bit wider. ???And you???re the only guy I???ve ever liked back.???
He smiled back at me. His brilliant white teeth glinted off the sun. ???And who was this ???other??? guy????
I wrinkled my forehead trying to remember what his name was. ???I think his name was Gerald something-or-other. He was this stubby fat kid, He liked me but I didn???t like him one bit.???
???That???s good because if you had actually liked him then we wouldn???t be together right now, talking about him and I wouldn???t be falling in love with you my little Rika.???
I smiled at his little nickname for me. ???You do realize that you???re not too much taller than me right????
???Of course I do. But you are smaller than me, you are mine and you are Rika. So there forth you are my little Rika.???
???You know what my favorite part is????
???What is your favorite part????
???Me, being yours.???
He came closer to me so that our lips were touching. He wrapped his arms around me. ???Hmmm...I think that???s my favorite part too.??? He mumbled against my lips.
I wrapped my arms around him and started kissing him. His lips tasted like nothing I had ever tasted before and he smelled like wildflowers. He lifted me up still kissing me, stopped and pulled away. I pouted but then I heard it, something rustling in the bushes Edward put me down and stood in front of me in a protective stance.
???Stay behind me.??? He hissed through his teeth. Then it came.
As soon as Edward saw what had come out of the bushes he backed off.
???Leonie! What are you doing here?!??? I squeaked.
???I followed you and your ???boyfriend???.??? She said obnoxiously. ???And you are gonna be in trouble.??? She stretched the word out so it was three syllables.
???I am not gonna be in trouble you little brat. Now go home and color on leaves or something because you certainly not helping here!???
???But I want to help and besides I would be lots of help anyway.???
???And how could you help Leonie? By using your ???charm??? and ???cuteness??? to scare off the goblins and trolls????
???No.??? she said confidently.
???Then how can you help us.???
???Well?????? She looked smug. ???I overheard you and Edward-.???
I cut her off. ???Never call him that.??? I growled
???Then what?-.???
???Call him prince or Brentwood. That???s it.???
???Fine then. I heard you and prince Brentwood talking about wearthers have special powers.??? She paused. ???Well soon after that I found mine??????
???Well spit it out! What???s your power????
???My power is to morph into anything I want to be. I know because while I was following you I was thinking about goblins, their green wrinkled skin, and their breath oh their breath!???
???OK, OK, we all know what goblins look and smell like so get on with it.???
Leonie glared at Rika and continued. ???Then I had a tingling feeling throughout my entire body then I was falling towards the ground. I had landed with a soft thump, but amazingly it didn???t hurt. It was then that I looked at my hand and stifled a scream so you guys wouldn???t find me.??? Leonie squatted and put her hands in the air palms facing out to make the moment more suspenseful. ???I was a goblin!??? She paused for effect.
???OK then that means that you can shape-shift, whoopty do da day now if you could go home that would be great, uh buh bye.???
???Whoa, Whoa!??? Edward cut in.
???WHAT???? We screamed simultaneously.
???YOU!??? He pointed at me ???Shut up! If you can???t talk to your own sister without screaming at her or being rude to her, then this relationship is over. Got it? And same goes for you little miss priss!??? He jabbed his finger in Leonie???s face. ???Now stop fighting or I???m leaving!???
???No! Don???t leave me!???
???Then stop it right this instant!???
???Yes sir!??? I stuck my hand on my forehead for the beginning of a salute. ???Anything you say sir!??? I swung my hand down and almost hit Leonie on the top of the head.
???Hey-??? but I cut her off with my ???don???t say another word??? look.
I looked up and the sun was already at its highest point. ???Ummm???guys I think we should get going.??? And I pointed towards the sky.
Edward walked over to me and hugged my waist and I took that as a yes. But Leonie just nodded, afraid of what might happen to her if she spoke. We set off at once but the closer Rika came to the forest the scarier it appeared and the more I wished I hadn???t pointed out the time.
We stopped at the edge. ???Are you ready????
Edward came towards me, but I put my hand up and pointed to him. ???One minute.??? I said, closing my eyes. ???I???m looking.??? I felt someone staring at me. I opened my eyes to see that the two were staring at me.
??????looking???? Edward said furrowing his eyebrows.
???Oh???yeah???I can umm???see things that people, people like you cant see???ha I umm guess I didn???t tell you about that did I???? I laughed again.
???Well???that was kind of???unexpected.???
???And this is annoying!???
???What? What???s annoying????
???I can???t see into the forest. It???s too dark and blurry.??? I stomped my foot on the ground. ???It???s horrible to not be able to see. It???s never happened before.??? I stomped my foot again and took a deep breath. ???OK, OK. I???m OK now.???
As soon as we entered the forest I felt a change in temperature. It felt as if something was watching me.
???Did anyone else feel that????
???Feel what? I didn???t feel anything. Is something the matter????
???No, it must have just been me.??? But I knew that it wasn???t ???just me???. There was only one time when I had felt something like that before. But I just ignored the feeling, surely nothing that bad could be in the forest.
I wasn???t paying enough attention to where I was flying because suddenly something hit me. It stuck to me like glue and yet it felt like silk. Then I noticed a movement in the corner of the thing I had crashed into. I screamed. It was a spider, I was in its web, and I was about to become its dinner. The thought of becoming spider frightened me more then the forest had.
???Hello my deary.??? The spider said in its thin raspy voice. ???How are you today????
???Hmmm I think I would have a better day if you let me go.??? I smiled weakly.
???Oh I???m so very sorry but I can???t allow that.??? The spider continued. ???You see, I have to eat just as you have to eat, to keep up my strength. But my diet is different from your because I drink blood.???I screamed again. ???Would you stop that?!??? the spider thundered. ???I hate it when people do that. It hurts my ears. I will make this as quick and painless as possible.???
The spider advanced. ???I???umm???never caught your name.??? I said in a feeble attempt to stall. ???You know us fairies; we like to get to know our attacker before we die.??? I laughed.
???I am a spider, now can we move on.???
???No not at all we???re not quite acquainted yet???umm???your name! I don???t know you name!???
The spider sighed. ???I don???t have time for this child. I need to eat.???
She came towards me and bit my arm. The last thing I saw was big black wings covering the sky.
The poison seeped through my blood. It burned, but in a good, comfortable way, like the warmth of the sun on a nice spring day. I heard a rip ???What was that??? I thought. Suddenly I felt a sharp pain in my forearm. ???No!??? I thought ???I don???t want it to stop!??? I tried to push my attacker away but my arms were being held down. The warmth stopped and was replaced with searing pain. My eyes flickered open; at first I didn???t see anything. I strained my eyes and saw three figures hovering over me. I heard a voice, it was Edwards. ???Look! She???s waking up.???
???Edward.??? My throat was dry and my voice was raspy. ???Edward, is that really you????
The figure, which I thought was Edward, kneeled by the bed. He stroked my cheek with the back of his hand. ???Of course little Rika.??? I could hear the pain in his voice. ???I???m here. You don???t need to be afraid.???
???What???s wrong???? I tried to sit up but my arms felt weak so I lowered myself back onto the bed.
???I thought you were going to die. If you died I would kill myself for letting it happen.??? He forced a smile on his face just for my benefit. ???I???m the one who sucked the poison out of you.??? He saw me frown. ???Don???t worry, poison doesn???t affect me. I???m perfect.???
???Aren???t you always???? I managed a weak smile.
???I???ll get you a glass of water.??? He whispered in my ear.
Edward disappeared into a hole in the wall and came back through holding a dainty little glass filled with spring water. I gulped it down enjoying the feel as it slid down my throat.
???Mmm???thank you.??? I whispered my voice stronger already. I kissed the side of his head. ???That was good.???
My eyes had adjusted to the dim light of the cave. The other two people were Leonie with her always messy brown hair and a man with white specks throughout his hair and beard. He was wearing a midnight blue cloak and holding a gnarled wooden staff. He was taller than Edward and I put together. Edward caught me staring at the man and looked back at me with knowing eyes. The man walked over to us. ???Rika, this is Bartholomew.??? Edward waved his hand in the man???s direction. ???He let us borrow his home.???
I smiled tentatively and waved. ???Hi.??? He reached out to take my hand. His skin was blazing hot. I pulled my hand away. ???Nice to meet you.???
???As to you princess.??? He bowed.
???Why is everyone doing that???? I grumbled to myself.
???Hmm???? Edward and Bartholomew said in synchronization.
???Oh!??? My head snapped up in surprise. ???Nothing, nothing I didn???t say a thing.???
???Well we had better get going.??? Edward said.
I groaned. We always ended up in the same position, going into the forest. We all headed out the hole that led to the outside, even Bartholomew.
???Umm.??? I looked at Edward and nodded my head in Bartholomew???s direction.
???Ah yes. Bartholomew is coming with us.???
I shook my head. ???Before long we???re going to have the entire population on the hunt if we keep adding to the list!???
???What???s wrong with Bartholomew???? Edward asked innocently.
I shook my head again and thought ???nothing, nothing at all???. I sighed we have a long journey ahead of us. We stopped at what felt like midnight and found a small patch of grass to lie on. I closed my eyes and drifted into a deep restless sleep.
I woke up drenched in sweat. It had felt so real that I could have sworn???I shuddered just thinking about it. But I had to remember, I didn???t want to lose it but I knew that was impossible because I knew it had been a vision.
I guess I had fallen asleep again because before I knew it Edward was shaking me awake. I waved him away but he just kept insisting. I opened my eyes. I felt as if sleep was calling to me. ???Come back, come back.??? My mouth fell open and my eyes felt as if they were about to pop out of my head. That wasn???t sleep???s voice calling me. It sounded like???Bartholomew. My mouth hardened into a straight line and my eyes closed until they were slits. ???Bartholomew.??? I filled the name with so much venom that Edward flinched away from me. No matter what he was not to be trusted. I walked up to Bartholomew. ???I???m watching you.??? I whispered in his ear. ???No matter where you go I???ll be watching you.??? The man flinched. I smiled to myself. This is exactly what I wanted, to make him fear me. ???Don???t worry Bartholomew??? I thought ???I???ll be watching you. No need to be afraid.??? I laughed evilly in my head. I stopped. I had never known this part of me???but I liked it!
The air was thick with choking fumes. I covered my mouth and nose with the collar of my dress.
???What is that smell???? I choked out.
???The swampgrass.??? Bartholomew answered.
I glared at him. ???Well doesn???t he have nerve???? My mind sneered, thinking on its own. ???Shut up!??? I whispered to my head. My two companions stared at me and Report me I am Spamminged their heads. ???Hmm???? I looked at them. ???What? Why are you looking at me like that????
???Oh!??? Edward looked away but Bartholomew kept looking, his eyes boring holes in my skin. ???I didn???t realize I was staring.??? It was then that he looked away but not before I saw the smug grin planted on his face.
I growled. He knew that I knew which means that Edward will soon know and if Edward knew then he would die because Bartholomew knew that he knows so I can???t let Edward stray from me or let myself stray from him or else we would all die. I sighed heavily. I was exhausted maybe I shouldn???t have thought so hard.
We finally stopped in a little meadow outside of the swampgrass. The sun was setting by the time we got there. Pink and orange streaked the sky which made it look as if someone had taken a giant paintbrush and used the sky as their canvas. I sat on the soft, flowing grass. Bartholomew gave me a look that, if looks could kill, would mean that I would be dead and decaying on the ground of the soft meadow. Since Edward was laying down on a smooth and apparently comfortable rock I decided it was time to attack. I flew at Bartholomew with speed I had never before achieved before but he saw me coming and in the nick of time dodged my flying body. I slammed into a large tree and left a large hole where I hit it, surprisingly I didn???t feel as if I was hurt, in fact I felt better than I had ever felt before. Bartholomew was turned away, probably thinking I was unconscious, once again I attacked. This time I hit him squarely in the middle of the back. His back arched and he fell back on the ground. Just then Edwards eyes flew open, He obliviously saw Bartholomew because his eyes flicked over to the large man lying on the ground.
???What happened here???? he asked.
I threw my self into his arms and started crying. ???It was horrible.??? I sniffled. ???These things came out of the trees and attacked us. Bartholomew tried to ward them off with his magic staff as soon as they saw that they would lose the fight they left. Then Bartholomew collapsed. Like I said it was horrifying.??? I cried into his warm shoulder.
???Hush, hush. It???s ok.???
I sniffed one more time and took my face out of his shoulder. ???What I don???t get is why they attacked us.???
He hugged me tighter. ???Maybe they???re jealous of your beauty.???
Bartholomew groaned then and got up. ???W-What happened????
???Don???t you remember???? Edward said, sounding concerned.
???No.??? Bartholomew said groggily. ???I don???t remember one bit of it.??? He moaned in pain.
???Well I guess it???s not important now. So lets sleep, you???ll feel better after you rest.??? Even though he was talking to Bartholomew he was looking at me. As I lay down on the now cool grass I thought about the day. I felt pretty proud of myself for taking down Bartholomew. The rest of the day looked boring compared to pummeling Bartholomew. I sighed and snuggled into Edward chest, his arm wrapped protectively around me. I closed my eyes and drifted into a deep sleep.
I woke to shouting; I felt something warm and slimy brush across my arm. I opened my eyes to see what it was and saw a mammoth serpent-like creature poised to attack something in front of it. It flew backwards into the forest crushing trees by the dozen as if they were toothpicks. Then I saw what it was attacking, it was Bartholomew and Edward. I needed to save them although I only wanted to save Bartholomew because I wanted him for myself. Suddenly I felt the trees pulling me into them, I struggled but I realized I hadn???t moved and let the branches and vines engulf me. The soft breeze turned into a piercing wind whistling by my ears. The little stream that ran close to the small meadow drained of water and swirled around me. Molten lava shot up out of the ground and caught the grass around me on fire creating a ring of blazing hot fire. Finally a cloud of purple mist surrounded me I figured this must be spirit and that I was getting my five powers, earth, water, fire, wind, and spirit. I smiled I could now take down Bartholomew with my newly found powers, I was now more powerful than him but I will let him live???for now. Suddenly it all died down. The vines retreated back into the forest, the wind died down until it was a warm, soft breath blowing on my back, the water made a sloshing sound as it fell back into the stream, the earth once again swallowed the fire into its core and last of all the mist rose back into the sky. Bartholomew looked at me bewildered but Edward was smiling like an idiot.
???I-I don???t u-understand!??? Bartholomew stuttered. ???I-I thought that w-was just a-a myth!??? he was backing away his long body folded in half in bow. ???I-I???m so very sorry ma???am this was all just a misunderstanding I will leave you in peace.??? He turned around and shot through the forest like an arrow.
I looked at Edward who was still smiling as if nothing in the world could bring him down. ???Well? How did I do oh great teacher???? I bowed and winked. And he started laughing.
Then I remembered the serpent and looked at the trail of damage it had left in its wake. ???umm.??? I flicked my thumb in the direction the dragon had gone. ???I think we should go follow him.???
He raised his eyebrows, a look of disbelief on his face. ???Why???? he said. ???Why should we when all he did was try to kill me?!???
???Or trying to protect you.??? I muttered under my breath so it would be impossible for Edward to even have a chance to hear it. I raised my voice. ???It had something about it. It felt as if it had been guarding something, something special. All I know is, I have to find it. If you won???t come with me I will go alone.???
???Fine I will come with you. But don???t expect me not to scream when the dragon eats me.??? He started walking swiftly away from me and I had to run to keep up.
We had been walking for at least three hours to get to the dragons lair and here we stood gazing into the black hole in the side of the mountain. Edward walked into the hole and disappeared into the dark. I hesitated but followed him. Inside the mountain there was a dim light emanating from the walls. But of course they weren???t just normal walls.
