Ahoy mateys! The scuttlebut is that International Talk Like a Pirate Day started in 1995 when friends John Baur and Mark Summers started using pirate slang during a racquetball game. It was so fun they made it an annual event every September 19th. For several years it stayed an inside joke, but gained recognition in 2002 after their idea was shared with Pulitzer Prize-winning columnist Dave Barry, who wrote a column about it in the Miami Herald titled "Arrrrr! Talk like a pirate — or prepare to be boarded."
In honor of this fun and light-hearted holiday, I put together a little Talk Like a Pirate Day Scavenger Hunt. All questions are Marapets related.
