The Day Meatball turned into a Cow,,, Pt 1

A Best Friend Tragedy


Three years ago, Meatball was born. Her original name was Calerai, and she was born a bit different. Her fur and skin were made of glass, so she could never play with the rest of her friends. She would watch them play outside from the room of her orphanage, laughing and giggling as they play fought.

The caretaker felt sorry for Calerai and did everything to try to cheer her up. She taught Calerai to read with books donated by the local school and soon Calerai was reading Encyclopedias. She taught Calerai school subjects like math and geography and even enrolled her into university courses.

But as Calerai bussied herself with her studies, she became more and more antisocial. And as she grew older, Caleria watched each of her friends get adopted. She was incredibly smart, and she knew that no matter how smart she was, no one would want her because of the way she looked.

Feeling defeated, she became depressed and discouraged. "No one will ever love me" she would say as she sulked in the darkest corner of her room. And no one did until Fang came along.

Fang was also a bit different. She found it extremely difficult to make friends, so instead of giving up, she began to look for a life long companion. With barley enough change in her pocket to afford her next meal, she rushed to the orphanage praying to find someone that motivate her to keep going.

"I need a friend!" Fang cried as the caretaker opened the door. "Please, I just want someone to talk to."

The caretaker looked down at Fang. Her eyes were red and puffy from crying and she looked ghostly pale. "Everyone has been adopted" the caretaker said sadly. " All the young, energetic, and playful cats have homes, I'm sorry."

"Are you sure?" Fang asked wiping the tears from her cheeks. "Not a single pet is in this adoption center?"

"There is this one cat..." the caretaker responded hesitantly. "But, she's......... different."

Almost instantaneously Fang's eyes lit up. "I don't care, I want him or her. Let me at least see her."

"I'm not so.."

"Here you can have all my money, just please just let me meet him or her." Fang dug into her pockets and pulled out the remaining money she had. She counted it in front of the caretaker.

" 1.. 3.. 4.. 2.. I have $4 and 25 cents, you can have it all, it's all I have."
