not at all, the only 'signing up' will be to claim a harry potter character for W&W or Fuzzie might do something with ZURGH

i'll be putting up a blog and /anyone/ who wants can post and get a custom banner for themself for the event

i'll also help people coordinate clothes/hair color - i'm restocking beauty supplies and collecting clothing from the vending machine and the clothing rack

basically you pick a group, get a banner, dress up in the right colors, and then go mad

would you like to be in charge of collecting clothes for me?
you'd take a lot off my hands and i wouldn't feel so stressed

i want as wide of a variety of clothes as possible and three-ish of each so multiple people can have some

maybe you could see if your little sisters could find plain clothing on SS that looks like a wizard/witch/zombie/hipster

nothing expensive, but if we can find a couple outfits that match the theme, people who can't afford the zombie/witch costumes can feel like they belong

i put too much thought into these things ;p

since the other topic degenerated in (hilarous) innuendo and i wanted to hash out some specific plans i'm remaking the topic

so here's my current plan

we're going to have two sub-sections - the Wizards and Witches (W&W) and the Zombie Underground Revolutionary Gangsters & Hipsters (ZURGH)

the W&W will be pink and purple colors.
ideally they'll wear the Teenaged Witch/Witch costumes, but if you can't afford one we'll come up with something and i have enough beauty supplies in my attic that we can get you looking fantabulous
the W&W will wear siggies related to harry potter
people can 'claim' a certain character and then 'role-play' in the forums (i have a vague idea of a signup blog or something)
innuendo using 'wand', 'cast a spell', ect ect fully welcome and dearly appreciated

on the other hand we have the Zombie Underground Revolutionary Gangsters & Hipsters (ZURGH)
ideally you'll wear a zombie costume, but if you can't afford one, the colors will be red and black (so devil character costumes will also be included)
siggies /tastefully/ referring to dead things will be splashed with liberal amounts of blood
ZURGH's commander is FuzzieBear - the Zombie Lady Counter-Revolution Leader

on the day preceding halloween/halloween itself we'll hit the others forums and strike up role-plays, cast 'spells' at people, and just cause general havoc.

Spam Chat Does Halloween '09 (SCDH09) (READ FIRST)

the great and glorious, rainbow-filled nation of Spam Chat has decided to unify the divided troupes, come together, and celebrate a massive Halloween Orgy.

we're calling it Spam Chat Does Halloween '09, and we think it's a pretty good idea (then again we're still amused by ponies, soooo)

the general idea is to get together for a massive party on/near Halloween.
this party involves dressing up, wearing siggies, role-playing as harry potter characters, and posting as much as possible in every forum /but/ our home base - spam chat.

we're going to have two sub-sections - the Wizards and Witches (W&W) and the Zombie Underground Revolutionary Gangsters & Hipsters (ZURGH)

it might seem like a lot to do, but i've arranged the blogs so hopefully you can pick a group, sign up for a special unique characteristic, and have a ball.

ONCE UPON A TIME the peaceful land of spam chat became spilt across bitter social boundaries.
on one side there was crowded dance floors filled with cigarette smoke, people wearing sunglasses in near darkness, and listening to almost-but-not-quite-entirely-unlike techno music.
a couple white boys wearing 'bling' and white teeshirts with hats on sideways flashed signs at each other while headbobbing to the music and pretending to check out every girl that walked in front of them, but they were really eying the bartender's biceps as they flexed while he served drinks.

on the other side of the line (dashed and alternating between yellow and mauve) several smaller groups of people were gathered doing various activities.

in one group a girl wearing a purple wizard robe with taped glasses on her face was holding a book and using it to empathetically prove her point.
"See, here, on page 375, Harry /clearly/ says that Snape is ..."
she was drowned out by dissenting voices, each who pulled out their own volumes with styistically drawn sketches on the front with contrasting color combinations and viciously paged through, before pointing at a paticular paragraph and going "SEE? SEE!"

a second group was several teenaged girls lounging on the ground while sketching on lined notebook paper.
One held up her half-drawn sketch and showed it to the others.
"See, this picture shows Harry touching Draco!"
the group simultaneously broke into blushing giggles while squeals of "THATS SO CUTE" and "THEY LOVE EACH OTHER SO MUCH" echoed through the air.

SCDH09: W&W and ZURGH Banner Sign-up

i (ethyne) am making free banners for /anyone/ participating in the event
yeah i'm insane, but oh well. i don't need help making them. -
if i find i need help i have already arranged with some people to assist.

as a general rule, W&W banners have the person's selected and approved Harry Potter character (see the character sign-up blog) and the ZURGH have banners with zombies and/or blood
for ease of banner making all ZURGH banners can list a celebrity they want 'zombified', otherwise i fav'd a ton of images on deviantart and have enough stock to make custom faces

this is also the place to sign-up for a costume.
you don't need to get a banner to get a costume, just post "I am W&W/ZURGH and i need a MALE/FEMALE costume"

SCDH09: ACTIVITIES

We've got a large number of activities planned. the activities will fall into team versus team, so you need to have chosen a team and declared it in your siggy.

each activity will have its own topic in Spam Chat with detailed information and signups

Role-play: two topics will be up in Role-playing forums and your team must have a coherent role-play. individual awards given to the best role-player
(spam chat's definition of 'best', not role-play's) and to the most 'advanced' role-player

Zombie and Harry Potter Trivia: Xaenthe (the Encyclopedic Dementor of Insignificant Trivia) and MelJel (Brilliant Reservoir of Academia and Intelligence of Zombies) will each be hosting a trivia contest. each team participates in their area and the team who gets the most correct wins

Simon Says - one person is 'it', describes a post everyone else has to do, others follow, 'it' switches

Mass Item Send - each team is given a target and told to item bomb them within a time limit, whichever teams gets the most alerts wins

Forum Tic-Tac-Toe - a topic will go up in another forum and each team will have to get three different people to post in a row without being blocked by the other team

Forum Battleship - each team will have 'it', who will be mailed privately, then on a signal 'it' and everyone else posts on the forums. first team to find the other team's 'it' wins (five rounds, new 'it' each time)

Forum Musical Chairs - a topic will go up with only room for ten people to post. once ten people post a new topic goes up with only room for nine people to post. continues until there is only one person posting, that person's team wins

Forum Image Chain: each team has their own topic and must start drawing/photoshopping a forum signature. second person to post takes the image, modifies it, then puts it as their siggy and posts the link. third person modifies second person's image, puts it as their siggy, then posts the link, ect.

Final Event: Mass Forum Tic-Tac-Toe: each team tries to have the most recent post on the front page on /all/most/ forums and screenshot it

Who: Anyone, even if you've never been in Spam
(be willing to accept Spam Chat humor and sarcasm - and not have your feelings hurt if someone is 'mean' to you)
Why: For the lulz. why else?

individual awards: eleven individual awards will be assigned. the criteria are kept secret, and we will have a big award show at the end of the night.
prizes are LE potions (Mordo to Robot Quell) and one person will win their choice of a character devil, witch, pumpkin, or dracula costume

Spam Chat Does Halloween '09 needs a ZOMBIE TRIVIA MASTER

we need someone who has no life and thinks researching the internet and the library for zombie info is a really neat idea

this person will need to put together a list of zombie-related trivia questions /and cite their sources/
i'm not gonna take your word for it that "zombies go for the neck first", i want to see what source you got it from
if your source happens to be a zombie survival guide written on a website that hasn't been updated since animated gifs were a pretty neat idea, that's totally a-okay

you will be compensated for your time, given your own personal title, and referred to the title from now until i forget (which will take a while, i promise)
also during the halloween event, if you like, you can personally host the zombie trivia section and face off against the Encyclopedic Dementor of Trivia, Xaenthe

state why researching online and in books looking for 30+ zombie trivia questions for a one night event on a virtual pet site is a nifty idea
also give your personal first choice of a weapon in case of a zombie apocalypse and the location you would flee to in order to be able to most effectively defend yourself
also, write that, if surrounded, would you use a zombified toddler as a weapon.

we're gonna do it on October 30th, friday night

we have so many games and prizes and activities planned

we have stuff like forum tic-tac-toe, forum battleship, mass item sending, and on and on

we'll be celebrating it on mara, alright

jay and i have decided to do prizes on every level possible
a prize for just joining, a prize for being on the winning team, individual prizes based on merit

1: no, no battling involved

2: you don't have to dress up, it's just part of the fun

3: i'll be posting blogs on friday will full event info along with detailed explanations

basically i'm hosting a huge spam chat party and you show up and do some activities

we're gonna do things like "Award for the longest, coherent roleplay"

Forums Battleship is like a massive hide-and-seek, where two teams each have one person 'it' who posts somewhere, then the rest of their teams post on all the other forums to hide 'it'
whichever team finds 'it' fives times wins a prize

and there's prizes for /everyone/ - all you have to do is show up on a topic and you'll get sent something good
(and we're talking 100k+ items)

i'm actually pretty excited for the roleplay one
with the two teams being Witches & Wizards and Zombie Underground Revolutionary Gangsters and Hipsters and roleplaying as such, i think it'll be hysterical

OH one more note:
i have 25 costumes to giveaway so don't worry about having to buy one - when i post the blogs and you sign up for a graphic or whatever, i'll include a slot where you say if you need a costume
then i'll just send you one : D
