A rising wail echoed throughout the island, resounding in the gloomy silence.
The wail (which resembled a pained howl) was cut off, with a sort of choked rising note at the end, sounding like a yelp.
Twenty year old Thea had been silenced.
The girl was bloody, with cuts on her arms and legs.
Her eyes (the left one was a dark murky gray, and the right eye a lighter gray) were tightly closed as she lay, kneeling on the rocky terrain of the mountainside on the island, and she keeled over, her black, chin-length hair, cut in choppy layers, spilling out behind her as she fell over, landing on the rocky gravel.
She trembled with sobs of remorse, which subsided gradually.
It wasn't every day that the demons killed your friends..
