Merry Christmas
The staff at Marapets would like to wish you all a safe and merry Christmas. From here in Australia, Ocenia & Asia, we are already half way into Christmas day, those of you in Europe should be waking up soon on Christmas morning, and Santa is on his way now over to those of you in North and South America.

CHRISTMAS EVENT
We have just started a new Christmas Greetings event that will end on Jan 1st with all of the Advent events. If your character is dressed in a Chrismas themed Character Costume, you will be able to visit other players profiles and wish them a Merry Christmas! You will both receive a prize and they will automatically receive an Alert from you with a Christmas Greeting! You can only send one per person, and can only greet players that are online.

NEW FEATURE
We have just released our new MaraTalk instant messaging service! You can now have a quick chat with any player on Marapets that will allow you to - or you can limit MaraTalk conversations to just friends or best friends. You will notice there are new Talk icons or links around the site which you can click on to start 1 on 1 conversations instantly with other players from your browser.
MaraTalk is FREE to use for everyone, however you will still have to pay 100,000MP to gain access to the MaraTalk Chat Room to chat instantly with the whole site. You can also use it for Group Chat. Simply visit your homepage and click the button to start a group chat. You will then be able to invite up to 5 other players into the chat and you will all be able to instant message each other in real time!

SITE UPDATE
The Frontpage of Marapets has been updated for all players that are logged into their account. It has now changed into a page which shows your character, pets, friends online and gives you quick links to some of the places you may visit often. This includes a new feature Friends Online.

NEW COMMUNITY FEATURE
We have released the first version of News Feeds, the start of a feature we will integrate more and more into Marapets in the future. It basically enables you to Subscribe to a player's blog, trades, pet trades, auctions and/or forum topics and you will receive a very detailed alert in your news feed next time they update! Its a great way to stay in touch with your friends, players you trade with a lot or a way for you to keep your friends/club members notified when you are auctioning cheap items!
The Blogs have also had a major update. They were very basic before while we decided if they were to have the same fate as MaraUploads. However, we decided to keep them and have been working hard to bring them up to the same quality as other major features on Marapets. They are now 100% customisable - you can use some html and css to design the blog exactly how you want it, and just use our extra codes to decide where you would like to place things. Players on your Block List cannot comment on your blog and you can view the newest blogs now on the Forums!
And finally, Forums had an update too! We replaced the Chibs emoticons with a newer version of our first ever Reese emoticons from when we opened in 2004. They no longer have a white background which makes glow fonts and blogs with backgrounds look a lot nicer! You can also post images and BB codes in forum posts and blog posts too!
As promised, we have released new Christmas Character Costumes this year in Account Upgrades. We will have a new Christmas event soon that you will need a Christmas costume to take part in! Be sure to enter the December Monthly Checklist this month - if you are a winner you will have time to spend your winnings on one of these before they retire!!

Middy Fish Day!!!!
Once upon a midnight sunrise, as the moon rose and the sun died,
Many fish were stranded on the Minipet Island shore.
I tried to stop their flapping, but the flippers that were slapping
Kept on with their tapping, tapping at the sandy floor.
"Who will save them," I inquired, "From their flapping on the shore?"
The Maradan Queen of Fish, of course!
I shall not soon forget the intense feeling of regret
That upon me was beset when I saw she was online no more!
I searched the Online List in horror a second and a third time for her,
But, alas, she was no more - no more, I raised my head and swore!
For the Fishiest of the Witches that we adore
Was miles from the Maradan shore.
One by one I madly tossed the fishes that were sadly lost;
Their smelly underbellies reeking to their rotten cores.
If only she were here, and upon this bank appear
The Lady of the Ocean Floor,
This fishy gore would be no more!
I was in an instant blinded, suddenly reminded
Of the darkness that extended forever and some more.
For a sudden beam of light had broken through the night,
And the shadows, they took flight - flight before your mighty roar!
Saved, was I, from this menial chore!
But as you stood there beaming, another beam of light came streaming,
followed by shrill screaming - screaming like none before.
My blood was chilled and my breath was stilled,
For through the Earth did another bore!
Bore up through the sandy shore,
Intent to even up the score!
My heartbeat was like thunder as the Queen of All Things Under
Slithered like her servants that these fish once ate before.
"It's her!" I yelled, "It's the Worminator -
She has come for revenge, and more!
Up from the core of the Earth she bore.
Up, as you rose from the ocean floor!"
Then silence did befall us, as the mounting wind did call us -
Speaking, shrieking, shouting for the flavour of your gore!
But neither of you flinched, neither of you moved an inch;
The unblinking gazes that you wore
Bore deep into the other's core.
You stared and stared and nothing more.
Then like a bolt of lightning did descend the ever-frightening
Judgment of the Ocean Staff, which in hand you bore!
And the mighty sound of crashing was echoed by her thrashing
As she crumpled on the sandy shore!
Crumpled like the worms who swore
To do her bidding, nothing more!
All at once her writhing stopped as down upon your knees you dropped
And gazed upon your minions - saddened to the core.
I could not help but shudder as I watched your lashes flutter,
For the wetness in your eyes said more,
Said more than words had said before.
Your gaze had fallen to the shore.
Then as a tear descended, all the broken fish were mended -
The Mara drought had ended - ended with the war!
And to my great surprise, the tide began to rise -
The ocean floor ascended with a mighty roar!
The chariot had come to bore away the one that we adore!
The one we love forevermore!
