I think the Marapet avatars should come in all shapes and sizes. Frankly not everyone has the stick thin body that the Marapet avatars advocates. I think that by allowing only one body type as your avatar sends a message to Marapet players who don't have that specific body type. Especially the younger ones. Body image, and the presumption that skinny is ideal is illogical to the people with regular un-model like bodies. I find that by letting players choose the body they prefer when creating their avatar would be beneficial. They will be able to choose what they want, they can choose skinny, or curvy, pear shaped, ect.

Just a mini-rant. It was kind of bothering me Smile I wouldn't mind an avatar that was similar to my own body type ^_^

  • rehtsethewriter 15 rehtsethewriterhmm that's a really good point! But I think why they have the standard shape is that if they did have different body shapes they would also have to design every piece of clothing for every single body shape which would be difficult. And they couldn't make shape specific clothing because people would get jealous.
  • rehtsethewriter 15 rehtsethewriterI understand though. I am not even close to the 'mara-ideal'. lol
  • cool_girl218 0 cool_girl218that's true it would probably take way to much time. Maybe when Marapet's has more profit they can expand the avatars in all different kinds of things. maybe an account upgrade dedicated to the "new bodies", so they'd make an actual profit, make them look super cool, set up new stores, that sells the clothes for the particular body type (it would be like real life), in Lush Lake, give it a quirky name, also restock it every five minutes with new items (gotta make the restockers happy). ah, well it's just my idea, I really thing this site has loads of potential!
  • cool_girl218 0 cool_girl218think* and me too, I am quite average ^/^.
  • rehtsethewriter 15 rehtsethewriterIt's definitely a cool idea. Who knows maybe they will if the site starts growing like crazy again.
  • cool_girl218 0 cool_girl218Yeah, it was quite the rage a couple of years back, when there was more then 1000+ people online.
  • rehtsethewriter 15 rehtsethewriteryeah I remember those days. ^_^ And everyday more and more came. It all just fizzled out in the last year or so when there were less and less updates. But it seems like Staff is back on track so who knows, maybe it will start up again.
  • cool_girl218 0 cool_girl218Yes I think so too Staff is working hard, so us players need to keep showing our support. Marapets helps me unwind so it's a win-win~
  • rehtsethewriter 15 rehtsethewriterme to, it's a nice distraction. And it actually teaches some things if you think about it...like money management...and buying and selling, you know, real world skills lol
  • cool_girl218 0 cool_girl218haha yes I never thought about it but it really does! good ole marapets
  • Mandalore 57 MandaloreI don't think they're that skinny but I agree with the point you're making. The problem with this idea is that with different body types, the clothes won't fit anymore. Unless they do a version of all the clothes for all the body types which I don't think will happen considering how much clothes we have.
  • cool_girl218 0 cool_girl218Yeah there is an extremely large quantity of clothes. I just thought it was an interesting idea
  • repulsivepeachfairy 0 repulsivepeachfairyi see the point you're making, but at the same time.. if i child feels bad about their body because of a character on a website... they have bigger issues they need to address. the characters aren't that skinny, either. and there would be complaints anyway, "YOU MADE THAT PEAR SHAPED BODY TOO BIG, YOU'RE AGAINST DIFFERENT BODY SHAPES" ect.
  • Nami 0 NamiI don't think the mara characters are unreasonably thin. they're healthy, which is what the site should promote. no, i'm not saying that curvier people aren't healthy. they most certainly can be. i'm just saying i have nothing against marapets promoting something that is healthy .
  • repulsivepeachfairy 0 repulsivepeachfairythe dolls are actually kind of muscular if you look at them. even the female ones. they don't look anorexic or anything, just normal tbh.
  • cool_girl218 0 cool_girl218I just think there should be other options. and I don't no how you define normal, since your normal could be different then mine. Nor do I think the avatars are anorexic or anything like that--- but, I am just trying to say that body image exists everywhere in society. and children get body image not only from the internet, but from commercials, tv shows, models, hollywood stars and many other things. I think the internet is just another wrench in the body image debacle. I think people (not just children) who get self conscious over the internet because of body image is the same as getting self conscious from a commercial, or a tv show, or magazines, and they do not have bigger issues at all they are just reacting to what is considered "right" in society. but yes I do see the point about how much work it will be to change and how much time it would take. I just think some people could become unsatisfied at looking at every avatar and seeing the same exact body base.
  • cool_girl218 0 cool_girl218but yes I'm sure there would be a debate about what body type was "average" and so on, and it would just create many issues. I just thought it was something interesting to mention
  • ChocoShay 15 ChocoShayi just dont like the fat/skinny pets i honesly dont think the avatars are that bad. but the fat/skinny pets are rude and bothersome.
  • repulsivepeachfairy 0 repulsivepeachfairythe obese fairy always irritated me. they wouldn't make an anorexic fairy.
  • cool_girl218 0 cool_girl218I agree the Fat/skinny pets and the obese fairy are both equally irritating and bothersome.
