|Hi there, this is just a story I did for a club contest, and I was wondering if anyone liked it or had any thoughts whatsoever If you're reading please do feel free to comment any good and positive compliments as well as constructive criticism!
“Follow the stone path, until it meets the forest. There you will find out who you truly are.”
“Okay grandma…” I muttered to myself as I set the letter on her-I mean my desk. I sighed, I was going to miss her. I took a step back and looked around the room, everything was so magical looking. There were fairy paintings hung on each wall, animal statues with fake vines on the fireplace mantle, fairy lights strung up bordering the room and even a starry sky painted on the ceiling. She had been a weird old lady, but I loved her, and if she wanted me to follow the stone path, and apparently find myself in the forest-then I will.
I walked out of my new bedroom and walked to the glass doors that led to the backyard. There was a stone patio covered in all kinds of plants ranging from vegetables and herbs, to wild flowers and saplings. She had always been extremely into nature, something I assume I got from her. I let my feet lead me down the narrow stones, and it didn’t take long to reach the forest line. I stopped and looked up at the intimidating pines. She had always told me to not go in unless she told me I was ready, I didn’t think it would be when she passed.
I shoved back the little voice in my head that was telling me not to go in, and swallowed as I watched my boot covered feet step inside. As soon as I passed the first row of pines, it was like the sun was turned off by a light switch, but there was a faint glow surrounding the trees. I paused for a moment, but urged myself to keep going. Soon the glow got brighter, and a flash of light, that I can only imagine as lightning, appeared and quickly disappeared. I rubbed my eyes, sore from the light and looked around.
“No…way…” I looked around in amazement, it seemed like I was in a completely new world. There were towering willow trees everywhere, wildflowers growing in sections and another perfect stone path down the center, leading to the biggest willow tree I have ever seen on an overhang. As I looked around, I started noticing the small things like the sparkles all over the trees, flowers and sky. They were almost like fireflies, but they didn’t seem to act like the pretty little insects. I started to walk down the path, and my back started aching as I noticed a lake just over the bank from the willow tree.
As I walked down the path I started to notice even more, there were animals everywhere. Animals you would normally see, and those you never would unless it were on TV. It was odd, seeing them all getting along and cohabiting.
“Hey! Are you Willow?” A rough but exciting voice questioned, making me halt in my tracks. How is there a voice? There are no other people…My heart started racing as I looked around, I must be going crazy. I noticed a wolf sitting on the path, just looking at me expectantly.
“Hey little guy, I’m just passing through…” I said calmly as I kept eye contact and backed away slowly.
“First of all I am not little, and second of all I am not going to hurt you. Esther said we would finally meet Willow today, and you look a lot like Esther.” My eyes went wide, how in the heck was this wolf talking to me in my head? How did he know my grandma? I am soooooo going crazy…I shook my head and pinched myself, hoping this was a dream and not me actually going crazy. No such luck though, I was not dreaming.
“Yeah I am Willow. How are you talking? How can I understand you? Where am I?”
“You’re a fairy silly. All fairies can communicate with animals. You are in Celestia, it is home of fairies and their companions. I am your new companion. Nice to meet you! I am Orion, here to help you adapt to your new home and your new wings!” Wow this wolf is well spoken-WHAT WHAT? Fairies? Wings?
“Fairies don’t exist and I don’t have wings. I just have to wake up from this dream, or trip or whatever is going on…” I said shaking my head and turning quickly to go back the way I came.
“Oof.” Something smacked my head, and when I opened my eyes, I could’ve sworn they popped out of the socket. Did I seriously Have wings? Could fairies really exist?
“Come on, I will show you the ropes. Welcome to Celestia.”
