Here I'll list a few role-play genres I like and don't like.
Right, so I like:
- Fantasy*
- Medieval*
- Gifted
- DNA
- Steampunk*
- Modern
- Post-apocalyptic
- Warriors (ish...)
- Death Note or other anime
- Harry Potter
- Hunger Games*

* = LOVE IT.

What I do /not/ like:
- Most animal role-plays
- Naruto
- Hospital/insane asylum
- Anything girly
- Real life role-plays (such as role-playing just an average character with an average life).
